They cooked up a "brand new philosophy" (actually a regurgitation of Marxism) and named it "Social Liberalism," and instructed all the Marxist professors and news propagandists to start touting it as "the latest branch of Liberalism" and to start calling themselves "Liberals." Instead of the great tribute to Liberty resulting from hundreds of years of contributions of the West's finest minds, it is literally a refutation of Liberalism.
Sadly, it worked, and now ACTUAL Liberalism is relegated to "Classical Liberalism."
